This process began with two pieces of Indonesian wood of the same tree that were begging remain together and yet become something different. They were cast with epoxy resin, and I embedded Banksia seed pods for texture and visual depth. The piece was flattened on a custom jig for precise alignment. I adjusted the curing time to ensure smooth transitions between resin layers and around the seed pods, preventing bubbles. After curing, the surface was sanded and polished to a high-gloss finish.
The oak legs were ebonized for a deep black tone, with red oil applied in the grain to enhance texture. The process blends handcraftsmanship with mechanization, using tools like sanders, planers, and jigs.
