In music, a coda does not introduce new material. It returns to what has already been established and allows it to settle. In each series from the Republic, Coda works operate in this same register. They do not define meaning through language or inscription. Meaning is carried through form, proportion, repetition, and material return.
Within the Lexicon Series, a body of work concerned with how meaning is made, held, and transmitted, Coda pieces mark a deliberate pause. They are not conclusions. They are openings that remain open.
These works emerge through revisiting. Material already present in the studio is returned to, handled again, and brought to sufficiency. What remains from earlier acts of making is neither elevated nor concealed. It is allowed to continue.
Artist Proofs from this series were gifted to two people foundational to the Republic. From that gesture, a numbered series emerged through recognition that the form was complete enough to be shared.
As part of this return, the pieces are intentionally decoupled from words. They stand on their own, without title
